Alright, so maybe you have plenty of followers on Instagram but aren’t getting the type of engagement you were hoping for. Maybe your Insta account has been lying dormant for a while and now no one is seeing your posts. It doesn’t matter. We have you covered. If you are looking for information on Instagram engagement in 2020, this is going to give you the information you need.
We are going to give you four tips on how to improve Instagram engagement. Two of them will be things you do before you post and two will be things you can do anytime.
Alright, let’s get to it!
Prime Your Instagram Account Before a Post
Alright, so if you know you are going to post on Instagram, then it’s time to prime your following.
What do I mean by prime? Get out there and start interacting with your followers. That doesn’t mean just go like a few posts and leave a couple three word comments. Get out there and really mix it up! Spend 20 + minutes providing valuable feedback to posts in your niche. Answer questions. Give specific feedback. Make it known you are out there.
Why would you do this? There’s this thing called The Law of Reciprocity. Per rebootauthnetic.com it means:
When someone does something nice for you, you will have a deep-rooted psychological urge to do something nice in return. As a matter of fact, you may even reciprocate with a gesture far more generous than their original good deed.
Not only that but even if you’re not about to post on Instagram, it’s always good to get out in your niche and mix it up. Show people the value you that you provide. Build your authority.
Get Your Hashtag Research on Point
Maybe you forgot how important hashtags are. Maybe you’re still using the same hashtags that worked for you when you discovered them a couple of years ago. Either way, it’s time to dig back in and find those hashtags that bring traffic to your website.
So how are we going to do this? Lucky for you I just wrote a guide on how to get Instagram traffic with Hashtag research.
Build Partners
Build partners? What the heck?
Find people in your niche that can help you and you can help them. Like their stuff. Comment on their stuff. Send them DMs. Just don’t scare them. If you are comfortable enough with the person just let them know that both of you can benefit from this type of relationship.
Make as many of these “partners” as you can. These are the people who like and comment on all of your stuff right when it posts. And those initial likes and comments are a big factor in the Instagram algorithm. If a couple of your buddies, your mom and your roommate like and comment on your post within a minute of it going up, Instagram is gonna like that. They don’t know that you orchestrated all of this.
Make Content Your Followers Will DEVOUR
Instead of just taking a couple of seconds and throwing up a random photo, think about the type of content your followers will DEVOUR. Look at the Instas that are having the success that you wish you were having. Make an infographic. How about a video that gives them tips on whether or not they should buy the new product that just dropped.
If you make great content the engagement will follow. Instead of pointing fingers and blaming the algorithm, think about how you can do better. Give your followers exactly what they are looking for. If you do that they will like, comments and even SHARE.
Go Make it Happen!
There’s nothing left to do but go make it happen. Apply all four of these and your Instagram engagement is sure to go up in 2020!
